Hi All,

I just regged this today. I tried to resist. Was I crazy to pay the premium of $500.00?

What's your apprasial?

I only see .tv names as being viable when it has something to do with television or possibly some type of online tv show. For example, in my opinon, Cable.tv or News.tv has great value, but Seafood.tv would only have value (imo) if it was a show about cooking seafood.

Hi,

It would be great for a seafood cooking show. That was my first thought.

I see .tv as a great "info commerical site." So anyone connected to the seafood business would have their own info commerical site. This of course is not limited to seafood. If I was a lawyer, I'd want lawyer.tv, If I sold golf clubs I'd want golf or golfers .tv for my own direct commerical site with my own video presenting my products.

Anyone agree or disagree?

if you have a product or service that you want to market on TV, I would agree, but seafood is def. not in that category, I think it will be hard to get more than $$ for it.

JLC...

Although EJS is correct in seeing .tv names being viable for television, there are many names that can be used for just that purpose, as television just may surpise a few people with its blitz into the internet, and I guess it will use .tv rather than .com, for obvious reasons.

Patience and marketing required here. Any name that is a "smash" on .com or .net could most likely be a lead balloon on .tv, as it is really media managed. Thus seafood.tv may be good but see what media market could take advantage of it.

I reg'd some names I thought had value but was discouraged on another forum. That's OK, though, because everyone doesn't have foresight and want the fast nickel instead of the 5 slow pennies.

I did pick up a few other names, though...

Asianow.tv
Americatoday.tv
Worldhistory.tv
Stockfutures.tv

that I think may reap some reward down the road as they are geared for the visual future of the internet, which, I feel, will rely heavily on .tv, leaving .com for the commercial end of the spectrum that it was meant for.

keep hunting, but don't take just anything. BE VERY SELECTIVE and leave good names behind if in doubt(I have done that, thank goodness, or I'd be broke!). The vast majority of names out there aren't fit for .tv.

Just keep thinking media(tv, radio and movies) and what is applicable for that vertical market.

Seafood might fill the bill, time and plenty of marketing may tell. Let us know.

Hi,

You must not like seafood. You can't invision the seafood industry being interested in seafood.tv?

$$ ouch!

Thanks for your opinion.

Thanks Freedom30 For the encouragement and sound advice.

I regged a few others at regular prices, but Seafood.tv was my only premium.
It took me three days to do it.

..I do like seafood..but not the domain..having a vision has nothing to do with that "vision" is what people claim they have if they have something that has no real value and they are trying to make sense where there is none...seafood industry looking for a tv-channel..please...

Hmmm....

I guess it could be far-fetched if it were an actual channel and not the .tv extension.

But wait, that's kinda like why would there be a food network? or one for golf specifically?, ad infinitum...

With the .tv extension you could have access 24/7 to not just seafood but how to cook it and restaurants that cater to the delicacies of the deep. You may have travel involved for those that want to visit places(shades of Rachel Rae!(goddess of good eats)).

But you may be right at that, domainah, if all you want to do is have some fisheries buy your website, which, as I explained before, is NOT what .tv is for, that belongs to .com, .net, .biz.

jlc, you can't throw up a domain site hoping someone will bid on it alone, although it does happen. Market to the media, be specific, give them the ideas that they think they can make money on, they really do have ears, and pockets.

Domainah may or may not be right, you have the answer in your actions or inaction.

Seafood.tv could actually be an adjunct to a food network, which I would guess may be coming to .tv, like many other things.

I think it was worth it. I buy and sell .tv everyday so you should take it from me. I have 105 .tvs and they make me the most ROI. So far this year I have sold about 20 for near $XX,XXX total. I realize .tv does not get the most love in appraisals at DNF but I do sell them here! I just had an $800 offer for one and have sold 2 $X,XXX packages. I think the $xx appraisal domainah just threw out there was a little salty, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. I do see the mass potential in theis extension so maybe I am too bias. But my suspicion has been backed up with sales so...

IMO Seafood.tv is very nice. It caught my eye. I was hoping you got it for regfee and maybe i could steal one out of your pocket for a few hundred! But obviously that isnt goign to happen! I think you could get an offer at any time that is $1000- $3500. Resellers you could get $750-$900 easy IMO. I think your chances of picking up an enduser is actually good within 2 years for over 5k. Just think abou it, how many Seafood reastaraunts are there? Several folks who picked up premiums have had good offers in the aftermarket already.

I like this one has potential like Food.tv I am sure it will sell if not quick but it will sell for a good value I wouldn't sell for under 500$ but as a reseller I wouldn't pay 50$ for it but I would reg it at the reg value. and keep it for as long as it takes..

Good luck

Hi Domainah,

I would think that many of speculating domainers have a vision. A vision of what a domain and web site would look like and be. In alot of cases, First it's a vision or idea then a great domain name for that vision or idea.

I listened to alot of the AlwaysOn conference where the .tv was reintroduced by Carson Daly. Many tech companies were looking for people with vision.

IMO, You need a vison in this business.

Thanks Again,

When I ask for an apprasial I expect the pros and cons.

You sound like a person with Vision!

Thank You King,

Your right it could (probably will) take some time. The relaunch of .tv should help.

IMO, the $500 reg and renewal cost is far beyond its resell value.

So you have to find/wait the end user coming, that is a tough task, good luck!
