Hate to post this but I need someone to verify this. I checked my stats today and found the EURO has been replaced by the US DOLLAR sign. From what I understand the EURO pays more than the US DOLLAR .... but this does'nt reflect in the statistics.

1 Euro = 1.2289 US exchange rate as of October 6th.

So, If I made 100 EURO last month I should get paid 122.89 US (after exchange) ... according to SEDO's calculation I now earn 100 US and that's what I get paid??? How did SEDO figure 1 Euro = 1 US dollar?

Are you in North America - namely, U.S. or Canada? If so, that's likely why. Sedo has a separate U.S.-based operation now for folks in U.S. and Canada.

With that said, based on what else has been happening lately with Sedo, be sure to check your average click earnings against past stats; may be difficult if Sedo has adjusted those to $USD too ... the exchange rate may not be the only thing to worry about ... :(

They are trying to make their job easier with this 1 Euro = 1 US dollar.
They do it in commissions too.
It is really stupid cause now they are loosing customers.

This isn't a problem for those of us living in the US, but I would not feel too good if they started paying us in Canadian Dollars. I hope this gets resolved to your satisfaction.

After reading this thread I am confused. If I sell a domain name through Sedo for a 100 euro's, I get paid 90 dollars (minus commision)? Is that correct? All offers in euro's are paid 1 to 1 in dollars?

No, this thread was about the parking earnings. It was not about domains sales.

When you enter a domain in sedo you choose the currency. If the offer is done in euro, you are paid in euro. If the offer is done in dollars, you are paid in dollars.

Yeah, you're right. They're a ****ing joke!!!

I got paid for the last month parking yesterday and i was surprised to see that they deposited the amount in us dollars into my PayPal account, even if the euro sign was in front of the amount earned in my sedo account.

I emailed them and got a reply. They told me that <<Canadian and US address-holders are paid out in US Dollars. Canadian and US accounts were formally taken over by Sedo LLC in Boston in September.
Your parking revenue was set to dollars from that date.>>

Yeah!Yeah! If my parking revenue was set to dollars from that date, why am i see the euro sign in front of the amount earned?

They will lost many customer if they act like that, including me. The only reason why i park 50% of my domain portfolio with them is because they pay in euro. Now i have a good reason to move all of them to DH.

To the people that have been affected by this change - have your earnings increased since the switch? ie are you now earning more dollars than you were in euros? If not then it seems Sedo have effectively taken a percentage of your money away.

Sounds to weird to be true, that would be pure and simple scamming and an
established company as Sedo would be mad to do a thing like that consciously
unless they are planning to sell out all together in the near future...

Hello from Sedo,

American and Canadian customer accounts are handled by Sedo LLC.
All customers affected by the switch from Sedo GmbH to Sedo LLC were notified by email at the time of the change.
Such customers' parking revenue is paid out in US dollars.

First – to clarify one issue:
Parking revenue is completely unrelated to sales revenue.
At the time of listing a domain for sale, a customer chooses a currency in which bids will be made/received.
In the event of a sale, the seller will be paid out in this currency.
The currency in which sales commission is paid, is therefore determined by the seller.

Regarding parking revenue:
For the purposes of parking revenue, $1 does not equal €1 as clicks are paid out based on the origin of traffic.
For example, a click from a US IP address on the keyword "car", may be worth up to $1, while a click from an IP address in Portugal may only generate €0.03.
The CPC that the customer sees in his/her parking account is an aggregate of all traffic received.

We cannot engage in currency speculation.
To alter the currency values in accordance with real-time currency exchange rates would be to invite false-address accounts and multiple accounts with differing postal addresses as many would try to take advantage of favourable rates in different areas.

Please understand that I cannot address individual queries on a forum.
However, if you have any questions, please send us an email here at Sedo so we can respond.

Kind Regards,

Nora Cotter

Hello and thank you for contacting me.

If your bank is located in the United States the funds will be converted and you will receive them in U.S funds. You can login to your account and change the currency on all your domains which do not have current bid threads.

Sedo provides an escrow service for all sales through us. Therefore when a domain is sold we request payment from the buyer and hold it in our escrow account until we can ensure the buyer has possession of the domain. When this is confirmed we release the money to the seller.

I hope this has been helpful. If you have additional questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

Hello again,

Obviously, if you have a US account the sales price will be converted to US dollars - by your bank - not by Sedo.
The amount noted on the credit note will be in the currency the seller specified (GBP, USD or EUR).
The credit note will be issued to the seller's bank account in the specified currency.
The seller's bank converts that amount to US dollars, if the seller holds a US bank account.
That has nothing to do with Sedo, nor has it anything to do with the issue at hand.
The thread was about the currency in which Canadian Sedo account holders receive their parking revenue.
Again - parking revenue is completely unrelated to sales revenue.
