Is it better to just stand up your own server and host multiple sites? Really debating about buying a box to handle the bandwidth....how do you all host multiple ( >10 ) sites???

Thanx in advance

depends on a lot of factors, like your level of expertise and budget.

I am not too technical, so I got a dedicated managed server thru rackspace. I pay a lot for it, but they make it very easy. Excellent service and total server management for my sites & projects. Well worth the $$ for my needs.

Depends on how complex the sites are - could be simple on shared hosting, or a simple Cobalt Server with its easy to use GUI.

A lot of times you are better of to go with someone else and let them try and get in your budget. I have my own servers and would love to work with you. We handle all sys admin stuff and let you handle your own accounts.

get a box at rackforce with web host manager

you can then set up any domain you want via a web interface

it's 150 bucks or so

I don't use them, but I have 1000 plus domains on a few servers

Some are major traffic sites

stay away from MS server

get red hat

it's not that difficult to admin such a server

the hardest thing is setting up dns server on the box right

pick a name you'll keep forever and then register it as a host dns

once the dns is banging then do a mass dns change of your dom's to the new dns servers
