Selling Domain name to companies

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the domain name buying and selling game and have a quick question with regards to the selling of an acquired domain name. If I have a LLLL which is the abbreviation of a large company can I - 1. approach them to see if they would like to purchase it and 2. Can you please tell me how it helps a company or website if they already have a domain to purchase another?
