Last Friday (September 25th) Government employees of Honduras went to the offices of the ccTLD .HN stating: “ Until this date CONATEL has not subscribe an agreement with any public or private institution, therefore it is necessary to order the institution that has been managing and delegating domains .HN the immediate suspension of this service, because it has been taken place aside from what it is stated in article 79B from the General Regulations of the Framework Law of the Telecommunications Sector”

They also order that:

1.- the immediate suspension of all the activity related to registration and delegation of new domains under .HN.

2.- orders that RDS to give CONATEL a list of domains .HN and registrations that have been given.

Article 79B from the General Regulations of the Framework Law of the Telecommunications Sector states:

“It is CONATEL`s faculty the regulation and administration of domains and IP addresses within the national territory. CONATEL can take the necessary measures so that the management of domains and IP addresses can be done through public or private institutions, therefore will subscribe agreements and emit corresponding regulations”.

Whoa! That's quite serious. Hope you are well.

Cheers,

This is very bad. What will be with the previous registered .HN domains? Will the owners outside of country keep them? Please let us know.

We talked with NIC Honduras.

They have taken the necessary precautions to back up all the information of domains to protect the current registrations that exist under the extension .HN and are taking all the legal actions to defend theirselves.
