server.com sells for $770,000 at sedo.com a huge name huge potential .

Great deal for both parties.

nice, i remember there being an appraisal thread for that domain a while back.

Great buy.

Very nice domain.

so who are the lucky buyers and sellers?

Its still going to need a truck load of marketing done with the domain/website as I cant see, relatively speaking, that many people typing this in naturally when looking for a server requirement.

But.. when it has been marketed and is absorbed into the public psyche it could quite easily, and quickly, be THE place we would all go to get our VPS and Dedicated servers.

Undeveloped it is a fantastic sale for the last owner.
Developed, it is likely a medium term bargain for the new owner.

Unless the buyer is an established entity in the server business already.

Imagine something like HP.server.com, IBM.server.com or something to that effect.

could be an easy switch to a new name redirecting the old name. Instant brandability and recognition. Plus, they never loose any traffic.

All the above is speculation on my part as I have no idea who purchased the domain or what their intent is.

congrats to both parties ... A little on the low end, but $770k is still a lot of cash is this economy.

sedo has been on fire with the big ticket sales

I know the seller, nice guy. He was noodling a development partnership about a year ago and apparently decided to sell instead. No idea who the buyer is.

Stuart.

The traffic is mostly from an old site it won't last and it's not targeted for hosting. Servers.com is better and has minimal traffic. $200K since it's a good brand for webhosting if promoted.

Wow. Nearly a million dollars for server.com. Some things just make me shake my head in confusion. I guess we should just wait and see what the buyer uses the domain for...

Great name! Congrats to buyer

I think server should go above 2M, i cant believe candy.com got higher sale, almost 4x the price of server.com. the price is very low in my opinion.

what a lucky buyer ;)
