That's what i meant - renewal fees might be hefty.

business.tv is a $1,000,000.00 renewal, so I am assuming Sex.tv would be right up there too... no way this ever sells for $10,000...

It is really hard to generate this revenue in a year. It seems like you work for someone and pay them 1 million a year. If I have 1 million extra per year. I will buy all remaining 3 LLL dot com domains.

my 2 cents.

agreed, the pricing "scheme" for .tv is nuts...

You would have to have a very solid business plan and some big time investors to make enough to cover the $1 million a year renewal, It can be done I am sure, but I don't see anyone registering that domain in the near future...

Sorry about my ignorance guys, but anyone can explain why the renewal is so high? I think i don´t know what renewal is.
Thanks a lot.

.tv was sold to a corporation, they set the pricing that they want. They determined that a number of domains are "premuim" so they cost more to reg than a non-premium. For example, most average 3 letter cominations are $500 a year (I think), hex.tv is $500 for example... some are $750 and so on..

They consider business to be one of the top keywords so they are charging $1 Million a year for it...

I am not sure what it would have cost to register sex.tv but it must have been a lot...

What I don´t understand about the .tv premium annual feesת is that let say you build a company today and the next year its a multimillon dollar business they would change the fee you were paying freely?

Sounds a bit like the ICANN Academy! :)

I have asked about this and supposedly once you register a name the fee will stay the same, but I would not put it past them to raise the fee after the fact...

I own half a dozen .tv names, I was planning on going into it heavily but I decided not to, after spending $35 (regular fee at GoDaddy) a pop it adds up...

most 3 letter combinations are $750 a year. Only few of them are $500 a year.

If we all worked together and nobody bought .tv even someone
building a site would bypass them..
