If you want to sell re contact the person and ask why they did not finish the purchase
He will reply" I think it was to much" or " I lost all my money I only have xxx-xxxx
Than you can either sell or resend. Don't just leave it out there.

temporal - Sorry to hear it didn't work out. You'll likely be glad in a year or so when you recieve a higher offer from a more legit buyer. Sheffield.info is a very good name. While speculative I know, the eventual end user price may be very substantial.

William9 - I like your logic!

Hi Temporal:

I note these .INFO CITY sales are indicated at http://www.dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm

1. NewYork.info $28,086
4. Tampa.info $10,000
4. Moscow.info $10,000 (tie for 4)
7. RioDeJaneiro.info $9,000
13. Vancouver.info $6,378
20. Minnesota.info $5,000
27. Houston.info $4,000
27. Washington.info $4,000 (tie for 27)

Your city domain will not lose value, don’t worry. Resellers who typically respond to Please Appraise requests don’t live in your city. Resellers narrowly think value in metrics such as Overture Bids or traffic. That is totally irrelevant to your most likely end-user, your next door neighbor.

The likely end user is someone who lives in Sheffield who doesn't know of Overture or DNforum. What they see day and night is:

Sheffield Pizza, Sheffield Cleaner, Sheffield Grocery, Sheffield TV, Sheffield Pound, Sheffield Police, Sheffield Cat Sitters, Sheffield this, and Sheffield that.

They have heard that Sheffied.com is worth $xx,xxx.

Now you give them the hope of getting it all with Sheffield.info! Tell them to make an offer under $xx,xxx for Sheffield.com, org, or net – a reply is unlikely.

Don’t sweat, you are in command.

Hi William9,

Thanks for your analysis, the "Great 28" list certainly proves good placename .infos are premium, and bound to grow as .info awareness grows. I've noticed requests for placename domains priced per population, which proves activity. But I did not get much interest in the domain when I promoted it in Feb (newsgroups, speculative-contacts, etc), except £500 ($900) from a reputable buyer.

Not sure how saleable medium interest placename .infos are, e.g. austin.info $650, naples.info (Napoli) $850 on afternic
http://www.afternic.com/namesbyc.php?c=16&sold=1
There seems to be the seeds of interest, sales, and end-user awareness. (I've got 50 .infos, a few are premium.)

I'm in no hurry, and would like to develop someday (was my reason for grabbing it LR2, but time and health are delaying plans - it's a big city). BTW I'm near, not in, Sheffield.

Thanks,
Will (temporal)

Yes, I've got options. Don't have time at the mo, but not in a hurry either way.

Thanks Fussyfever. The offer'er claimed that the lack of competing offers made him rethink. He wasn't cooperative and refused to reply to my last email. In retrospect I was too helpful. I ended up refusing further contact unless by headed letter.

Thanks Carlton. Indeed, I don't regret the lack of sale, only the hassle at the time. Currently dealing with a seemingly legit buyer for commissionit.com.

Try eBay? Nashville.info just sold there within approx. 5 hrs for the buyitnow price of $1000! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5714784844&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

Cheers,
Rob
I don't fancy ebay for various reasons - I'd try if I wanted a quick sale. But that nashville.info sale is certainly an interesting sale - I'm not suprised it was snapped up. At half a million, similar population to Sheffield. Thanks Rob.

Stepping in for Rob - I can't find a previous listing (ebay Completed listings, or google), but as Rob said, it was snapped up in 5 hours - at the "buy now" price, that's very keen.

Thanks to all,
Will (temporal)
