I was just talking to my sysadmin today (he's a geek and hacker/white side of course) about auctions
He mentioned to me how shill bidding is a common and refined technique on the Internet today, and the sneaky tricks people play today. It was an eye opener.
Apparently, there is a segment of auction participants who bid in auctions just to see how far they can raise the ending bid. To them, its just a mindless game of "Who wants to be a ____ sucker". Of course, these people are prepared to lose their accounts instantly. They just check out various auction sites on the internet to determine the vulnerabilities in credit checks, then blast away.
Just a gentle reminder to all DNF members ... if you thought there were ethics and trust on the Internet, please go figure just one more time.
