Decided to contact some end-users for my name transcribe.org

Dictation & transcriptions have pretty high bid prices on OVT, but the word transcribe didn't have anywhere near those bid prices & also under 1000 @ OVT.

Taking that into consideration, I priced the domain @ a considerably lower amount than what I would have asked for dictation.org or transcriptions.org.

I asked for $900.. within 5 minutes I had a response from someone saying they don't usually pay that much for URL's but they were interested.

Before I had a chance to reply to them I got a notice from escrow saying they had initiated the payment process for $900.

In retrospect you probably could have got more from this buyer who seems very keen, however my feeling is that you have got a good buy for an average .org and not too many people would have offered $900 or more for it.

Yeah... I made the mistake of saying I am looking for around $900, rather than saying I am taking offers around $900.

But then, if you only have 1 interested, you may get a lower offer, but on the other side of the coin, if you have multiple parties interested they can juke it out. :-D

I think you have done very well. If you'd have asked for a bit more you might have put the buyer off.

Serendipity may have played her hand in this case.

Well... so much for the keen buyer!

He started the escrow transaction & everything, but when it was time for him to make payment to escrow he dissapeared. :/

Sent him numerous emails & no response back.. guess it's time to email some more end-users on this one.

If you wanted around $900, who cares whether or not you could have receive more. It amazes me how many people say, "I could have sold it for more."

I have seen numerous decent sales LOST because of greed. I saw this one play out once:

A Domainer said he would take $50 for a name. A week later, a potential buyer came about and said that he was interested in the name, and he offered $400. Because of the nature of the name, the name, the domainer knew that the purchaser had money to spend.

The domainer replied and said that he wanted $900.

Puzzled, I inquired with the question, "Weren't you going to accept $50 not more than 7 days ago?"

The domainer's answer was "Yes, but this guy can afford it."

As it turns out, the sale was lost over greed. I just shook my head, failing to comprehend the logic in what the domainer did.

My point is this: When you acquire any domain name, you should set a realistic selling price. When you get an offer around that about, SELL and do NOT worry about how much you COULD have received for the name.

Personally, I think $900 was a GREAT amount for that name. Hopefully the buyer surfaces and completes the transaction.
