What are your biggest regrets?

Don't bother with the I wish I entered the game earlier line, we all wish taht.

These are regrets since you got into the game.

Did you know it was PW before the sale?

I haven't had any regrets yet. As you can tell I'm fairly a new domainer.

Regrets are paying others for sites that they don't deliver.

Beyond that, no regrets because it has pushed me to learn new skills that are actually starting to pay off.

lots of regrets with hasty decisions in transactions, but none to actually stand out. maybe that I never really used my programming and development background to put more interest into my domain and site sales.

>>> bundles of unwise impulse registrations couldn't produce reg fee, even a dollar, throughout the year. <<< BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MINE

Now I keep my portfolio where I try to make sure each domain makes 10 usd per year. Besides, I'm developing 20 domains now other than parking domains.

Wasting two years of registration fees on domains that were crap, thinking "Oh, this is a cool one, I could get $x,xxx for this hand reg!".

Sending domains to auction with too low a reserve and letting some good ones drop early on.

A few, turned down an $8000 offer and later was only able to get $4000.

turned down a $5000 offer on a first name .ca, but not such a regret because it's a family member's name

years ago was looking at regging monsters.ca when it was available to hand reg, when I went to finally buy it, it was taken. later sold for something like $12,000 by a savvy member here ;)

Looking at those 3, that's over $20,000 of revenue I 'lost' out on.

Thing I dread the most is selling a name to an anonymous buyer, and later finding out it was a huge company, but don't think that's happened to me yet.

but mistakes and regrets are all learning experiences that help you make better decisions later on, it's the dues you pay.

I have made a bunch of mistakes over the years but the ones that stick in my head are... From when Reg.com was the only game I knew of in town all were 4 letter .coms and had net in them. A 3 letter .com and a few small words Dropped by Reg.coms mistake with a new system. Also renewals were like 25 bucks. I never pursued it but some of the names are huge now.

Same here: wasting time on poor regs and not aiming for high quality domain acquisitions from the very start :)

Not selling a large part of my portfolio back when the market was high! Lost a ton of money by keeping them as the prices fell down.

Leaving my GoDaddy account unsecured a couple of years back, with a dumb password, an expired email address, and all my domains unlocked, and then logging in one day to find all my best names had been stolen. :-(

Dropping most of my creditcard domains I hand regged back in 1999-2001 - this still stings everyday.

Actually, I do regret not bidding higher on an LLL.org domain last year. The auction went way beyond my budget but would have been worth it.

We all reg'd names we regret, but we recover from that loss when we sell a high priced domain, It's part of the business were in.

My initial investment in the domain business was 10K, Domains primarily purchased on backorders and auctions, To date I must of made at least 20 times that amount in sales alone, and it didn't put a dent in my 10K investment.

So what is my biggest regret as far as domaining? Investing in brandable domains MORE than keyword generic domains early in the game.
