singlesweekend.com just sold at the Affiliate Summit Domain Auction for $2,750. So, what is the .org worth?

Man, you guys are harsh.

Is that it? $2.70?

Are .orgs worth so much less than .coms?

Yeah, pretty much. Unless they are geared to an actual organization, non profit, social program, politician, open source community, etc. etc. there's not a lot of use for them. They were never meant to be used for commercial purposes.

SinglesWeekend.org unfortunately doesn't fit the bill.

OK, OK, I get it. Seeing the sale of the .com got my hopes up. But I guess I'll just have to write this one off to youthful indiscretion.

Thanks for the reality check.

I've had some nice successes doing exactly what you did - buying the .orgs of .coms that just sold. Try contacting the owner of the .com & they might be interested in purchasing the .org. Also, if they promote the .com name, the .org will get some traffic.

Best of luck.

Yes they are. This is reg fee because it's not very good keywords and doesn't fit the extension.

You have it the wrong way around dude. You lose traffic to the .com

Not that it makes any difference, but I owned the .org before the .com sold.

Maybe I should build the domain out. A forum for singles looking for a weekends solace? Who knows ...
