Well, given the recent heating up for .us, I felt it would be a good time to test the latest DNF waters with this one:

Sitcom.us

Given the prominent place the sitcom holds in US culture, I think it has high potential and could be a super sleeper. What do you think?

Plural would have been better, IMO.

This one: $500 - $1250

Well, notwithstanding my obvious interest in the matter, I do believe this is one of those examples where people mostly like and think in terms of the singular, and that's where my gut was when I went for it in 2002 while ignoring the plural completely. The numbers appear to support this:

Ovt: 3062 plural; 3976 singular

Yahoo: 3.61 million plural; 9.7 million singular

Google: 2.57 million plural; 6.37 million singular

Nevertheless, each person's individual IMO is his/her own, and one may hold their respective IMO as they prefer, otherwise of course it simply wouldn't be an IMO.

Ok, so much for my career as an aspiring sitcom author...

Anyway, thanks nonetheless, and thanks in advance for any more appraisals (ok, maybe). I think this one might have very nice potential as a forum site in addition to all the other stuff one might think of. Any more thoughts on this one out there?

Feel free to prove me wrong in this example by selling it for more.

"Sitcoms.us" encompasses the entire range of ....sitcoms. You can have "Friends" in there, "Everyone Loves Raymond", "Seinfeld" etc.

With "Sitcom.us" you're pretty much going to have to list one, e.g. the top sitcom, the funniest sitcom, the most stupid sitcom etc.

Sitcom is not a collective noun.

The numbers don't lie, and I'd say it functions extremely well in a collective sense. It's unlikely people would assume, for instance, that something like "sitcom.com" or "sitcom.net" was limited to only one instead of covering the whole range, and singular is even much more appealing for that as well, imo.

MSN: 431,161 plural; 1,917,785 singular

I checked and my bubble appears ok, but I'd sure like to know how you found out I had one. Anyway, folks, you've heard one point of view on the merits of this domain and its singular singularity. Are there any more domainers out there who feel the opposite as it appears likely most of the rest of the world does, and are also willing to say so? Variety - that's the ticket.

I dont know, sitcom could certainly incorporate several types. If gun, dress, television etc. can all rep. more than one of each why not sitcom or anything else. For instance powertool, does this mean only one type of tool can be expected? Certainly not. I like it more so this way. As it could go both ways. The plural locks you into multiple.

dont ask for appraisals if you arnt prepared to hear peoples true opinions. If you want to appraise your own domain then go right ahead and have this post deleted.

.us has not boomed yet...at least in my opinion. reg fee- $20 right now...

Hang on to it, and you could maybe see 4 figures

I honestly don't think anyone here if they owned this domain
would sell it for $20. There, just had to say that (IMO ofcourse)

I would have gone for the singular myself for a few reasons,
but I can also see the point that the plural would be of value too.

Right now it's value is high $xxx to low $xxxx, based on other
.us sales I've seen. Would anyone here even sell it for under $500??

Sorry, but I think the debate over Singulars and Plurals is a legitimate one.

I would personally go for the singular in this case, but that is just how my mind works. When searching Google I never put in plurals as I guess Parsing takes care of the rest of it.

Sit com does not appear to be a much bid keyword term and that will not help its value as a domain. Development is therefore probably necessary.

Best Regards
