The monopoly continues at $napnames, just got this:

"SnapNames can now give you the first shot at the most popular expiring domain names from Register.com, another of the world's largest domain name registrars.

You simply place back-orders on the domain names you want, with no up-front fee. Domain names at Register.com will be made available to you before they are available anywhere else. This means less waiting time and a much higher chance to get your domain name if it becomes available.

SnapNames provides preferred access to more premium domain names than any other service."

Yes good if you want to catch good names but think of the long term.........

How long will it be before all .com .net Verisign-grs names go direct to Snapnames - what will be the auction price of the names then ?

http://icann.org/presentations/gnso-proposal-deleting-names-MdP-06apr05.pdf

Register.com, Networksolutions.com etc are breaking their ICANN agreement:

http://www.icann.org/registrars/ra-agreement-17may01.htm

"3.7.5 Registrar shall register Registered Names to Registered Name Holders only for fixed periods. At the conclusion of the registration period, failure by or on behalf of the Registered Name Holder to pay a renewal fee within the time specified in a second notice or reminder shall, in the absence of extenuating circumstances, result in cancellation of the registration. In the event that ICANN adopts a specification or policy concerning procedures for handling expiration of registrations, Registrar shall abide by that specification or policy."

ICANN need to put a stop to this.

Time to send them another letter............as if they care or even reply !

It's like constitutional interpretation -- NSI/GoDaddy twist this ICANN policy by interpreting the drop catching service in the realm of "extenuating circumstances".

Soon you will be paying $10,000 per drop

When Snapnames has no right to take the domains in the first place.

They should drop and be available for all drop catchers.

I hope it too
But there is nothing You really can do about it.
You can write Your letters, but noone even cares.
And I will be paying the money to snapnames rather then pool, or any other drop catcher.

Maybe Enom and Pool should write the letters.

They are not using registers in this way at the moment ?

Enom could do as they are the biggest reseller provider.
