On Sunday I received an email from Nelson at Snapnames with about 100 domains that were auctioned and not paid for and were going to be re-auctioned.

I assumed when a domain left the active auction screen it was paid.

Why didn't they give it to the next highest bidder?

Was it a shill that bid too high?

I have spent 10's of thousands of dollars there and now find out there are scammers there bidding on names and not paying just like at ENOM.

How do we know we aren't being bid up there?

On every domain I paid over 5k for, I was bid up by someone with no previous auction wins and have never seen them bid again.

It's getting harder and harder to trust these drop catchers.

I called Nelson and left a message today and told him I want all my auctions investigated to see if I was bid up by any of the non-payers.

Thoughts?

Giving it to the next highest bidder would allow for collusion amongst a group.

e.g. person A bids $200; persons B and C make phony bids against each other, pushing the price to $20,000, and both don't pay. Person A would be the "legit" bidder in the scheme, but due to all the fake bids, persons D, E, F, etc. never got a chance to bid at all, above $200.

Just got a call from Nelson at Snapnames and he did calm my fears about what has happened at Snapnames.

I believed what he was saying and have to say their customer service is a cut above the rest out there.

Why would they not send out the list to everyone? Seems snapnames should let us know about any and all active auctions in order to maximize their revenue.

I got mail from them last night.
They will start re-auction this WED or THU.
I think, they sent only related bidders about these domains.

Maybe they only sent the list to people who have actually successfully paid for a name in the past??

Nope... I've spent a bit of money there, and was not given the opportunity to do this 2nd auction.

It seems that Snapnames is not as respectable as we thought.

It doesn't look like etrust.com actually dropped. It appears that netsol has placed it on hold, perhaps the idiots that owned it, as we all know, finally got a tip off. Its pretty sad when a company that brands itself as an internet "trust" broker, cant even keep track of their own intellectual property. I was astonished to watch that name for 30 days sit there, and when I tried to place a bid at snapnames, it would not let me even before it would have actually dropped. Seems it went on hold and reg lock. Why after going down to the last second? Very fishy smell there. Who can

Well, I just called snapnames and spoke with "Theresa". She stated that they don't re-auction non paid names, they just go to the next highest bidder. I was also involved in the lucid.com auction, but have not received the email.

I asked for Nelson, but he was unavailable.

I just received the snapname's email about the re-auction of those unpaid names. Including beijing.net.

It won't drop. It's one of those expired Nelsol domains Snapnames has exclusive right to auction off. The auction has already ended but it's still in the pending payment stage. Once payment is cleared you'll see the new owner's name in WHOIS as if it was being transferred to him/her. The original registration date will be retained.

It just baffles me that etrust.com would drop. ANd believe me, whoever the new owner is, best be careful with it. Im sure they will be crying to netsol, ICANN, possibly UDRP to try and get that back, as it had quite a few links, overture, and is already confusingly similar to the truste brand. Wont be able to use it to sell certificates I dont think. Anybody know what the high bid was?

The high bid for etrust.com was $31,600.00.
