Snapnames Live Auction...and Sedo Geo Auction

Just looked at the Sedo geo auction taking place right now.

Dubai.net at 140,000 Euros
Gibraltar.net at 60,000 Euros

The reserve hasn't been met yet, but bidding has been strong. Most names have too high a reserver, but I think we'll see at least a few big sales


Now compare this to Snapnames Live auction.

Holland.net - $27,500
Beijing.net - $50,000


I can't imagine Gibraltar.net being better than Beijing or Holland .net. The prices at Snap were TOO low, really. I don't know what Sedo did, but there simply were no buyers at their auction. They might boast about Porn.net for $400k, but that was just one single buyer, no other bids.

IMO, entering names at a new auction never really yields good results. Sedo, for all its crappiness, still gets the most bids

Interesting observation there.
Beijing and Holland are sure better than Gibraltar!

I'm putting a couple names in the next GreatDomains auction tomorrow, hopefully they'll get some nice bids too

With geo names it all depends on the bidders liking this or that name due to their own background, locale etc. Period.

The upsetting part is how Greatdomains upcoming auction was announced yesterday, before the Sedo geo auction ended! We're talking about shooting someone's own leg.

No sale but then again I had no high expectations. The Sedo contract allows for 30 days past the auction for negotiations with bidders. If they up their offer to 80% of the reserve I might sell.
