I lost 4 snaps in a row, and 3 of them were names that i put the snap on THE NIGHT BEFORE the drop just to burn a last exchange.

names i had the snap on:

ibrite.com
emuparadise.com
stayhere.com
lumthemad.net

I also noticed that they did not catch ANY of the 50 or 60 other
names i was chasing the past few days though i noticed they managed to get vipentrance.com

It's amazing, looking back a couple months ago how they dominated the lists and took 60-75% of the names.

Now they are down to picking up around 15% of the names.

Can someone PLEASE be better than pool.com?

P.S. I'm not inferring that i was entitled to any of these names, just pointing out that snapnames officially sucks. They are almost as useless as nerdgrab.

Jolt,

So, instead of grinning like the Cheshire Cat, why don't you tell us what Snap grabbed for you?

For the past four months, I usually had 10 to 15 snaps on names dropping per week. I am down to maybe one snap a week. And, I am going to keep it at that rate until they increase their grabbing success rate. Over the past 6 weeks, I was burning up snaps like crazy. I was just wasting money!

So, I have mentally grouped Snaps into the same level of success as GoDaddy.

On Wall St. there is an old saying "don't fight the ticker" . Meaning that you go with the winner. And, don't continue to support the loser. But, eventually, the loser will comeback and then you ride the former loser back up.

I think the same principle applies to Pool and SnapNames.

Until Snaps turns around, you are better off using other options.

i also forgot to say that it has actually been 6 in a row. I did not include the two .orgs that i had snaps on for about a million years:

Palestine.org
Plasticman.org

I still have some snaps on some huge names that expire in a few months that i will keep, just in case snapnames is still in business at that point.

For reg fee? How did you get them to waive your $99 monthly membership fee? They may call dollars "points" now, but that is real money you know. :cheeky:

I got the decent name, IdeaMart.COM, which I wanted as it was the name of a business that I had for a while in High School around 1970. I got that just before Pool opened. I have gotten NOTHING since between 12 Snaps and 3 Snap Names. They have missed on about 15-20 in a row. Even with their one price methodology, with 15 registrars on board still, you'd think that they'd do some better. I generally ask for decent to good names but even have some just OK .NETs and some mediocre .COMs along with a few very good names too. My curiousity is to see if they get ANY of them!

BTW - You can now renew Snaps type 4X service for $9.95 (for 3 more tries) and the Snap Names renewal is $39 for the unlimited exchange service for a year.

As to who got the names that I didn't get, most have gone to BuyDomains, at least one to the Cayman Islands group, and one to a Korean outfit. NONE seem to have gone to the people who populate 'mortal' member groups like DNF. I did get one good and one OK name from the group through DropWizard, AntiqueNews.COM and BroadcastUSA.COM (Thanks Gordon!), AuctionSale.NET through NW, and a few decent ones through Go Daddy that actually beat Snap Names (not a big feat, I am afraid, unfortunately) and NW bids as high as $256 in a couple of cases. Of the three Pool auctions that I've watch from the sidelines, 2 went to BuyDomains and the other to the Cayman outfit. Several seem to have gone to BuyDomains through their own efforts.

Happy Hunting!
(if you get a mouse or a large cockroach of a name these days, you should count yourself as sort of lucky, I think!)

Jon  :dead: >:-(

I've got a few snaps coming up early this month, lets see how this group goes compared to my last half dozen or so unsuccessful snaps

Where are the $9.95 renewals for limited exchange Snaps available? I had not heard about that before and none of the ltd. exchange services I have used has sent any info on them.

Dammit GregR, why didn't you send SPAM emails out like everyone else does! :-D

This is a good response from Snap to the current market conditions.
