i bought a typo of altavista.com, can't remember what it was since it happened a few years ago, but it got taken away in like 3 months. they
go crazy after their TMs

They have to prove all three:

1. Confusingly similar
2. No legitimate use
3. Used in bad faith


If you start a vitamin site or something like that, make no reference at all to altavista and do not offer it for sale, no way they can take it from you.

File for a trademark on altavita

Just my opinion.

Just a question: Why does Altavista have the rights to this name??! It is the name of a (Swiss, I think) drug company and is used in the .de, .ch, and possibly other extensions currently. Will they want ALTernate.com, ALTAmont.com, BeunaVISTA.COM, etc. AND, does the city of Altavista here in Virginia have any right to use it's own name for anything?? It's been around MUCH longer than Altavista.COM. This copyright stuff is sickening.
