For Sale Snapped a NW bidded domain.

I have just snapped a domain that has a bid of $300 on NW. Whats up with that? You think somebody bailed on it last moment? Cos I doubt it would be free otherwise.. Has this happend to anyone of you before?

Yeah, a domain i was bidding ($50) on through NW was just taken tonight and it was taken through the domainpeople.com registrar.

redline i think he is saying that he managed to put a snap on a name that already had a bid on for $300 not that he actually got the name. this is weird because you would think the bidders would have grabbed the snap too if they thought it was worth $300

Youve misunderstood me What Im saying is, domain that currently has bid of $300 at NW, was still available to put a snap on it.

Oh, that, yeah, i often see that so i am not surprised. It happens if the domain had a snap and the owner had to move the snap quickly.

So confusing sometimes. So to understand clearly, a name had a $300 NW bid, and NO SnapBack, but you were able to "catch" the drop anyway (note: NOT through SnapNames?) If it had a SnapBack and a NW bid, I'd be surprised. Those reports read like urban legends without an registry connection backing you up (though it happens). If it was "just" NameWinner or "just" SnapNames sub, I've seen that happen. Less with SnapNames than with NameWinner. I always hold both on the names I'm concerned about.

Doesn't stop BuyDomains from nabbing it from me though!

Nexus: Sorry, I should have expressed my self better. What Im saying is, It had a bid on NW but no Snap. So I was able to get buy a Snap and now Im waiting too see if I get lucky I dont bid on NW though cos I dont want to raise the price which might only cause NW to work for it harder and at the end it would go to the highest bidder that might not be me if somebody else would snipe it..

As far as I know, buy domains (like snapnames) pays registrars for direct access too the registry, snapnames has 17 registrars (that we know)

BuyDomains I think has 2 or 3 i am not sure.
THey are not a registrar

How do you place a fake bid on NW??? To sign up they take your CC info and they charge your cad automaticly. But I have seen people talkink about fake NW bids at $2002 and now you are mentioning fake NW bids.

Are you saying that NW is bidding themselves so that they can up the price of the name (and thier profit) ?

BuyDomains also takes out SnapBack subs as well!

Sounds like if your domain is good, and is in BuyDomain's sites... odds are only having a NW bid will not be enough "insurance". Sometimes even having the SnapBack sub as well isn't enough.

Isn't that great? I'm hurredly trying to work out a pre-drop sale right now for a mediocre one-word .COM before it becomes a free-for-all. Some people don't like the idea of WLS, but I honestly don't like the "arms" race for drops. Gets ridiculous after a while. I guess I'd rather someone tell me "you lose".

Its annoying when you KNOW something will drop MONTHS and MONTHS ahead of time, but when it comes down to it... you still lose to being simply "outgunned".
