Social Media Names and Domain Names?

When acquiring a valuable domain name or prepping for development; do you go after the social media version of the name i.e Twitter, Facebook, etc? I personally do or register the closest variation of it as potential incentives to clients- but I was lucky to start doing this early.

Also, keeping in mind that buying and selling SM names are against some sites' terms- what is your approach?

What do you fine folks think? Is it worth it? Do you take that step?

yes, even if you don't use it is best to protect your brand.

In addition to that, as a site grows in popularity, you tend to be able to hijack a certain name in some cases (whether bought or Twitter gives preference and takes it upon themselves to protect brands). I god damn guarantee you that www.fmylife.com was not the original owner of www.twitter.com/fml (this is just one example).
