Ok, in registering 2 word Japanese IDNs. Is better to register with the space or without the space? Or is it wise to do both? Which one gets the typein? And which gets indexed better? So far, I've been doing both. But I ask the question because I don't know which one is the accepted way Japanese people type in a browser and which one they would search for in an engine and I don't want to be spending my money. Any advice appreciated.

Regards

- You cannot register any IDN with a space
- Watch out for grammatical particles at beginning/between/end of words which are 'stop' words in SQL. As a result, those are filtered out in the jp overture results.

But in domainsite... when I try to reg this name without a space: Tokyo Gourmet (which is available by the way, good ovt) I get the following

xn--qck7fy72gx5v.com (東京グル.com): Available

With a space I get this....

xn---7eurij24i34z.com (東京 グル.com): Taken

How come?

"Taken" is a catch-all error message. It's not really taken. It's an error produced by the space between Tokyo and Gourmet. 東京 *** グル.

If it shows as available without the space, then it's free to be registered.

Try it.

In Japanese there is a complication in the way that spaces are handled. There is a special character which looks like a dot that is used in lieu of a space in titles etc.

These might have a use as domains, but do not appear to be much used as present. However, the use of the AscII hypen is even more improbable, so definitely don't go there!
