If you run a site with a guestbook, chances are you've received a spam message, something like this:

"Roland Glicks: Please contact me by ICQ: 468124389. I have a news for you."​

I received quite a few like or similar to that and started wondering what the purpose of such a (to me) stupid spam message could be. And who "Roland Glicks" was.

So I did a WHOIS lookup and when I saw rolandglicks.com was available, I decided to do a little experiment and registered it.

So 2006-06-10 I started a "Roland Glicks Anti-Spam Portal" and waited.

Without any active promotion the site has in one month gone from PR0 to PR3 and some 516 unique visitors have found the site themselves, mostly though search engines.
