What criteria are you guys using to rate a possible reg?

I have found some words that have decent OVT and google hits. They are taken in all ext except .mobi, but when I check the .com I find a parked site. To me that is the kiss of death. Am I wrong?

all the criteria sounds good. Some of the best domains in the world are parked & earn a great income for their owners. They should be developed & earn their owners 10x as much, but hey, what do i know!
Follow your instincts....sounds like your not rushing in anyway & are doing your homework.

Only joking!!! DON'T print them here. Reg 1 or 2, then come back & see what we think if you're worried, that way you cover your bases.

IMO a parked .com is not the kiss of death. There are some very high quality .coms that are parked and earning a very nice revenue. I think .mobi has a very good future and will get plenty of typeins in the future. If the names get good OVT there will probably be traffic in the future, especially with shorter names.

Thanks for the tips. Of course, this brings up some other questions.

1. Is there any way to find out if a parked site is making money?
2. What do you consider a good OVT?

There's overture & then there's overture 'with' extension.
Also you could have a really popular word/phrase but has tiny ppc (especially with sedo :cheeky: ) & has masses of competition & will never make search page 1,2 etc
Also some unusual terms pay huge ppc rates.
Thing is ppc may work out on mobiles too. But imo people want strong keywords or where possible it's good to get company names that are generic & more than 1 with same name. Therefore lots of interest for name & they are unable to take off you! :whoo:

i presume this niche will be well served in the mobi arena. any opinions on its value or future trend???

also i am stumped. how does numerical domains get logged on .mobi surfing? aren't the numbers and letters on the same pad???

Hi,
normally when you open the browser on your hone it goes auto to letters. Press one button & it goes to numbers. Easy either way.

On my phone, there is no button to press to switch to numeric entry. I know the # key does this on some phones, but on my nokia it just switches to CAPS, so numbers require 4 or more keypresses each (except 0 which takes 2.)

Let us know how many keypresses to enter a number on your phones.

Can you register domains at resellerclub.com like moniker or is it just to sell
domains for reg fee? just seen a offer $8.49 per year .mobi never used it
before any info would be great.

i saw the same at website.in. You can only modify the DNS. If you want to forward the domain (or park), you need to pay extra per month. Hmmm... Why godaddy is charging so much still for .mobi...:ranger:

You can still park the name with any parking service (sedo, trafficclub, etc.) The only thing you don't get for free is url forwarding and if you want it, it is only a small additional cost like $0.50/yr (Still much less than paying for moniker/godaddy.)
