A new 'superblack' material has been created. Through what they call transformation optics (light-ray bending and absorbing, basically), the deepest black that now exists absorbs 30 times more light the blackest black that used be (if that makes sense at all).
Anyway, the applications for the military are pretty obvious, I suppose - not to mention the actual realization of something like Harry Potter's black invisibility cloak. This 'Superblack' nano-technological material renders things that are shielded within it invisible. Not that objects disappear, or anything. It's more that what lies beyond and behind the cloaked object is able to be seen by the light bending, and the intermediary (cloaked object) is literally over-looked. Nifty stuff, eh?
If you find the right company or individual working in this feild, then I think these names - that I'm selling here for 20-50 dollars only - will be valuable.
