Sony, from Fortune Magazine:

Sony announces super-thin TVs

Glasgow also said Sony will immediately begin selling an 11-inch, 3-millimeter-thick OLED TV in the U.S. for about $2,500. OLED has advantages over the LCD technology now used in most flat-panel televisions; OLED displays are brighter, the images crisper, and the power demands lower...if portable televisions take off, for example, OLED could be the favored technology because its thin dimensions and frugal power use would encourage compact devices with longer battery life.

Pioneer, from Switched.com:

Pioneer Unveils Super-Thin, High-Contrast Plasma TVs

Today, Pioneer showed off two significant concept models for its flat-panel plasma TV product line. Under the banner of Project KURO, a sci-fi-sounding internal anthem for change, Pioneer unveiled both the thinnest flat panel TV and a flat panel that boasts an unparalleled contrast ratio. To give you a better perspective, one TV has a screen frame 9mm thick (thinner than the iPhone!), as opposed to contemporaries that are 3.5 inches thick.

TDK, from Tech-On:

TDK Shrinks Components for Use in Super-Thin TVs

TDK Corp of Japan has developed components that make it possible to manufacture thinner power supply circuit boards, aimed at thinner liquid crystal display (LCD) televisions (TV). The new components, including transformers, choke coils and noise-suppression filters, offer inductance characteristics that are equivalent to existing designs but are only 15mm tall (Fig 1a). Conventional components are 22mm to 25mm. A source at TDK said, "Power supply boards today are about 25mm to 30mm thick, but with these new components it is possible to cut that to no more than 20mm."
