Excellent name, DW. For a reciprocal linking site or link exchange network, this domain name is near the top of the list.

The value of site linking for building traffic and gaining search engine rankings is finally becoming more recognized. I see the value of this name going up, up, up.

Appraised value around $1000 to $1500 for the domain alone or $350 to a domain reseller.

Good one! The link exchange business was very popular 1-2 years ago. There are still a lot of successful banner exhange sites out there. I actually own SwappingLinks.com. But I think SwapLinks.com is a better name.

Good luck!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Sorry for misleading ya'll just got this:

Due to the extremely heavy volume we get when we release our expireds list,
we have found that in some rare cases, due to the server load, some names
are not being removed from the list at time of purchase. This has resulted
in SOME erroneous listings of available names.(less than .5%).

We will be looking into how to rectify this new found problem, without
impeding client access.

In accordance with our terms of sale, we reserve the right to rectify
errors, and we have removed the following purchae from your domain list,
and credited you the fee.

Domain Name : swaplinks.com

Thanks for your replys, sure wish they hadn't been so good now!! FUQ...

DarkestWeb, did this happen while someone grabbed the name for you or was it through manual registration?

Sorry to hear that there had been a mistake!

This is a really Good Name! :)
I'd say you could sell it for over $500 rather easily.

It is a registrar that offerers deleted names before they let them go, you pay a premium for the name but sometimes can get some gems before they hit the open market. This is not the first time this has happened to me but I guess it's the price you pay...

You mean they re-register the name for a premium, during the current registrars grace period?

What registrar is this?! Remind me not to register a name there.

I'm not sure exactly what they do, I know the names are expired passed their dates and either they as a registrar keep them active by paying and put them up for sale, or there's a very short window, I'm really not sure. Been doing this a long time. I've gotten some good stuff from them in the past, just a pain when I get so excited about something good I got only to find out I didn't, but they refund the money promptly etc.

I doubt you would be registering a name there as they are quite expensive, I only use them for this expired thing they do...

PM me if you want more detail I don't wanna out them in public :) LOL

Interesting. More and more registrars seem to be going down the route of auctioning/selling off expired domains - presumably this is during the grey period after they have expired but before they send the delete command through to the Registry.

Keeps the money in their pocket, I know all this registrar is doing is renewing the name, transfering it to my account and pocketing the overage I paid for it, which for the names I buy from them is fine with me..
