It'd be interesting to know when it was that Symbolics.com set up a web site, since the web wasn't invented until 1990.

email, usenet (newsgroups), ftp...

The new owner has requested not to disclose the price and would like no comments on pricing.

Please respect the request.

Thanks,

Al Gore used it to create the web.

"During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet"

Gore said when asked to cite accomplishments that separate him from another Democratic presidential hopeful, former Sen. Bill Bradley of New Jersey, during an interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN on March 9, 1999.

Congrats on the purchase.

Nice buy.

I remember hearing about some legal issues surrounding this domain but did not look too deeply into it.

Brad

congrats xf
just saw on dnj

actually i got the email from them too, offering for sale as i had offered in the past.
but i found bizarre how they wanted people to write biggest bid on a cheque and send and winner won and everyone got cheques back lol
even if i was interested in paying more than 40k , which i wasn't, it would have scared me off

patty tactics

anyway, unique buy, and congrats

congrats Aron, nice pick!

what are you planning to do with it? Won't be that easy to monetize as the age and historical value don't mean that much to people outside the domaining community.

Jeez, and I thought having an early 1990 name was something, lol. Congrats XF...good snag and hope you make something nice of it!

Thanks everyone.

For now, it's going to lead up to a
celebration of 25 years of .coms :)

Cool idea. Amazing to realize that's how old that domain will be soon enough! Just funny to think that it's older than probably a decent amount of DNF'ers and that it's been "legal" for over 6 years.

I've always wondered what it would be like to own the first public domain. Amazing & Congrats!

Nice looking pic on DNJournal! Ron Jackson used to complain about how hard it is to make all the pictures of domainers look good :)

Top investment.

wonder how much tic.com would go for if sold! nice list.

Congrats dude, great pick-up. The rarest aged name there is in many aspects.

It still boggles my mind that certain domains were not reg'd back then...in the mid to late 80's, granted it was a completely different world then but seriously..the oldest name I have ever owned was from 92' and that's going waaaaaay back lol.

Congrats again brother, hope it serves you well. This joints for you! :smokin: :peace:
