Poutine is the bigger market of the three in canada, especially in quebec.
It's almost a religion for some.

You have a ballpark on offers, namely the poutine ?

Interesting comment, JackSplat!

Indeed, poutine is more than merely a popular menu item – it is indeed iconic and highly representative of Quebecois culture.

We’ve received a few unsolicited offers for poutine.org in the mid-low $xxxx range from companies in the food services industry (restaurants, cheesemakers, potatoe / French fry / sauce producers).

While you’re right that poutine.org probably has the highest value in the longterm, there is significant topical interest in the Gomery Commission. Since you appear to be from Canada, you’re probably aware that this commission is investigating the biggest political scandal in Canadian history, involving hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars. We had significant traffic and interest (with zero marketing) during the Gomery Commission testimony phase… In particular, the French variation (CommissionGomery.com) had higher OVT w/ext numbers than the English version from January to May of this year.

Judge Gomery is expected to hand down his ruling in the late fall / early winter, and the Prime Minister promised to call an election within 30 days of the ruling. Expect a massive spike in Gomery Commission interest … time to develop the domain now to be prepped for that phase. While the offers for poutine.org have been lower, we’ve had major news organizations express serious offers for the domain package.

As for JeanCharest.org well, he’s the premier of Quebec, so there’s permanent value in such a domain, both for current news and for a site offering historical perspective 10 years from now. In addition, this is one of those rare instances where the .org has almost greater value than the .com …

Cheers,

Rob

Very well explained.

Poutine is definately a good grab for the fast food industry in Quebec.
I'de say it's alot more than the xxxx you've been offered. My interest in the name is purely investment, not personal. So I won't outbid the people I'de market, given I owned it.

I'de say good luck with the sale, but with a name like that you dont need luck. It's an easy sell.

Kevin.

"Given I owned it" meaning "In the event I owned it" or "If I owned it"

Just to clarify.

Thanks again, Kevin. Are you saying that you were the previous registrant for the poutine.org domain? If so, why did you let it drop?

As for the offers, well they were from DN brokers who didn't hide the fact that they were interested on behalf of certain industry principals... and they probably would have made a nice triple or more on the sell to the actual buyers. If one is willing to do the elbow work (meetings, NDAs, presentations, etc...) then these are all bluechip opportunities.

Now I gotta stop talking poutine, otherwise I'll head out the door to a little resto that serves excellent poutine just 3 minutes away, lol.

Cheers,

Rob

I have received many individual offers for the above-mentioned domains (listed on multiple sites) but would prefer a group sale - even if collectively it means a bit less revenue for me.

Cheers,

Rob
