.TEL Perfect Fiasco - Zero Renewals

It's been a year since .tel went public. And now it's absolutely clear that it was D.O.A. Well, with a 20/20 hindsight.

I did get suckered in for 5 regs. Great keys! But no reason to renew.

Yes, it is dead for sure.. the amount of great keys dropping is huge.. oh well.. next.

This comes as a shock...

I invested this amount in .tel: $0

I guess for some folks it was clear that .tel is dead in the water. Not for me, though.
Does it mean that every new tld coming to the market is doomed?

I have sold all of my .tel domains for a huge profit.

It was evident with .mobi that when the registrar limits use of the name, it's bad. .tel did so but even worse than .mobi. There simply was no point to getting these names...you couldn't actually DEVELOP on them.

Do I hear a consensus that one must ignore all future tlds?

2012 will be fun to watch as the landrush names are dropped en masse. There will always be defensive regs but the ext is DOA anyway.

Oh come on now most of you will jump on the .tel bandwagon now that you can get two character ones!

Landrush is a 2 week period starting 8AM MDT (UTC 14:00) on Wednesday June 1st. You'll pay $239 to apply for any .TEL name you wish - if you get it, congratulations! If not, you'll be refunded $214. ~ name.com

I cannot wait!

Tel landrush??? WTF???

2 characters is 2 characters 2 many.

They must have typed that on their iphone with auto-correct. What they really meant to say instead of landrush - was 'money flush'.

i registered and renewed my surname...figured its about the only chance i had to get it any extention for a reasonable amount.
