So I placed a bid for a private auction expiring name through snapnames.

Min bid, $1000. Myself and another individual were the only ones in on it. He was the high bidder with of course, me in second.

Check the status today and low and behold, I am the only bidder for this $1000 name.

What the.......?

Where'd the other bidder go?

One would assume it was a friend of the seller.

Bob, we're talking about a Snapnames auction here.

Maybe they contacted snapnames support and told them the bidding was done by error, and retract their bid? hehe

Why would you enter a minimum bid of 1k anyways?

I would contact Snap and tell them you retract your bid and you want the name for $60. If they say no, charge back.

<edit> just saw the name was min bid of 1K. In that case, I doubt there's anything can be done. Looks like you just bought yourself a name.

Since when do expiring names have min bids of 1k? I always though domains that had min bids above $60 were not expiring domains but domains owned by others like buydomains that are being auctioned off on snapnames.

What happened was probably this:

1. Bidder A entered $1,000 amount
2. Our guy, Bidder B, had a high bid of $1,000

Bidder A was found to use a stolen credit card. Since the only bid of Bidder B was $1,000 that's the fallback number. In other words, had Bidder B placed a $60 bid the auction would have ended at that amount.

Call Snapnames to find out.
