VeriSign's attempt to sell three- and four-character dot-bz domains on eBay appears to be a dismal failure. Auctions are closing left and right without a single bidder. That anyone in corporate would think that more than a handful of net newbies would pay anything at all for a Belize country-level domain name is hilarious.

I hope the Belize government got a good chunk of cash out of VeriSign on the front end, because I doubt that it is making squat if its return is on a per registration basis.

That's because they were selling these names at outrageous prices: $5,000 - $7,500 - $10,000

Many aren't selling in the $70 to $200 range.

Of course, NOW! When they started it was at the prices above. They were trying the confusion method, what with the .BIZ TLD being new.
