Just my 2 cents , but this economy is in for a rocky patch

Now more than ever, stick with quality bluechip .com domains and stay away from the garbage

Also, don't overpay with the intent to flip to the "greater fool" because in this environment , the end of that chain will most likely be you

Finally, unless the seller has stats to show the site can actually be monetized, there is really no longer a need to pay a premium on the price

Perhaps this is a good indicator. I offered 60$ on a domain name at sedo.com
some 2 months ago. The sellers counter offers have gone as follows;
7,040 USD
1,408 USD
704 USD
352 USD
141 USD
84 USD
60 USD Todays price

I am going over my portfolio agressively. If I have it developed and I'm going to keep up with it, I'm keeping it.

If it is parked and making >reg fee, I'm keeping it.

If not, I'll try to sell it and if not that, I'll drop it.

Well, it totally depends on your ROI. I see no reasons to get rid of names not getting a positive ROI for me.

I don't get it guys....Domains are an investment. Are we seriously being affected by the last few months?

Buy quality domains and this is the best time to do that. Then hold for the long haul.
Do not buy domains with money you need. Don't buy names on credit cards/loans etc etc. Buy names when you have cash in your hand and you can afford to not sell.

Not just the past few months. I've only registered new names on technology news (generic names) and projects. No more mass-registering things like NNNNN.coms, CCC.tld domains etc.. in fact, I am going to offload many. I don't have any that are up for renewal untilk late December so I won't have any fees in October or November but I will be looking into selling / dropping a lot of my portfolio.

The sky is falling! The bubble is bursting! The registry increased the prices! Please feel free to drop all of your domains.

This is the best time to buy domains. People will invest within their own limitations and not based on the economy. The reseller market has already hit rock bottom but I think it will start to pick up.

Finally, unless the seller has stats to show the site can actually be monetized, there is really no longer a need to pay a premium on the price

Are you talking about domain names or websites?

Most here are not even close to being in the same league as WB

Too much liquidity in the system still leading to too much malinvestment

Look at the crap domains many of you guys register as proof there is too much money in the system

He bought because he got great deals as did JPMorgan Chase with bear Sterns and Wamu. Their buying doesn't mean the econ won't get worse...having said that, the more people/magazines/tv shows that finally realize and announce how bad things are, the sooner we will start a new bull :)

I wish I could agree

I don't think we'll see soup kitchens like the Great D 1

but this is NOT going to end pretty
