i found out about a new startup that i think is going to do very very well. however they are stupid and registered the<name of business>.com and did not bother trying to buy <name of business>.com. i contacted the owner of <name of business>.com and was able to buy the domain for a reasonable sum. now i own it.
but what will this be worth if the startup does as well as i hope?
for instance, say The Onion was actually called The Red Onion. And their domain was TheRedOnion.com. How much would RedOnion.com be worth? (yes this domain is general keywords as well and they should never be able to win a TM claim to it as the keywords are so general)
Or to put it another way, how much traffic and revenue should I expect to make off of <keyword><keyword>.com if the<keyword><keyword>.com gets tens of thousands of hits or more a day?
another example from a poker domain:
pokerroad.com is a big site. however what if they were stupid and built their site on thepokerroad.com. with thepokerroad.com getting 20k+ uniques a day, how much would pokerroad.com then be worth?
