Since I have not found any out there that make me happy, I have decided to begin production on my own domain sales/landing page software.

I am building a Wordpress theme that will allow the listing of - and an easy landing page for - unlimited domains. This means anyone who can operate a Wordpress site can now be in control of the sales process for all of their domains from one easy admin panel.

I am thinking I will make this available for sale once it is done, if there is sufficient interest from the marketplace. I know what I want in this. But if you were going to do it, what features would be indispensable to you?

Here is what I have so far...
  • widgetized list of all (or specific number of) domains
  • landing page for unlimited domains with custom sales message
  • price box with "buy now" and/or "make offer" buttons
  • optional hit/traffic counter on each page
  • responsive design/seo friendly

What else would you put in there? I am looking to keep it somewhat simple, but good ideas will definitely be considered.

from reading the idea, I think you already surpassed "simple" ;)

you can't get simpler than..."this domain name may be for sale" and add contact info

even though most ppc services that offer "for sale" link options aren't that jazzy, the right name will generate a sales inquiry.

i'd weigh it like this:

pay for software to list and promote my domain names

versus

list my names for free at a ppc and let them pay me, while I wait for a buyer.

hmmmm,

but the one thing that all ppc's often lack, is the perfect image for your domain names. sometimes the images are sufficient, but not exactly what you would choose, if you had the choice.

imo....

There are different levels of simple, my friend

I have the capital, the vision and the experience to bring this to reality. That doesn't mean I am doing all the work.

I like the idea of a custom image in the landing page. I'll add that to the list.

Thanks!

I know Tia Wood offers a customized domain portfolio WP plugin tailored to how you want it. See what she has to

Sounds a lot more complex than what you want, but may give you a better idea of what you really need.

;)

Ask if she has an option to get resell rights and make it a custom plugin that could be for anyone.

Thanks David, I'll check that out.

Looks like Tia is offering a great, higher end service.

This will be much more, shall we say, cookie-cutter. :)

I'd also add a Paypal button in there so they know which payment methods you accept. And maybe a twitter button as well, so they know you're a real person.

Crumblepie,

Paypal will definitely be integrated.

Social media, on the other hand, was not something I had considered. It is a great suggestion, and kind of a no-brainer. I'll definitely put it on the list.

My goal is to be out of development and into beta testing by the end of the month.

Any other ideas are very welcome.

Thank you!

I just saw the theme, it is about 80% developed.

It is coming along very nicely. I know I will use it. I think others may be interested as well.

I am starting to think about a marketing approach.

My next question for the group is this: Besides DNForum (obviously), who else has large lists (or audiences) of domainers?

Feel free to PM if it is poor etiquette to name names.

I appreciate all suggestions. You guys have been very helpful and generous so far.

let me know when you have a working sample, and pricing for it, i would be interested in buying

domainboardroom.com good place to let follks know about availability when you are ready to offer for sale
