Definite TM issues with this.
Paypal will demand AND get the name from you. :'(

FYI: eBay, the parent company of PayPal, has been ACTIVELY patrolling their trademark in domain registration.

Take some solace in the fact that you are not alone. All of these are registered :--

thecocacola.com
thepepsi.com
theford.com
themcdonald.com
theburgerking.com
themicrosoft.com
theoracle.com

Value ? Tons of headache.

Even if there was no tm issues, I doubt people would type or search for such a thing. Its like 'themicrosoft.com'. Who the hell would type that in?

I previously purchased a name with paypal mentioned in it and within a month go a email from their legal department demanding me to cease development of it and just let the name expire ... shoot ... big company = little student at the time ... not a fair battle

theoracle.com is not a trademark.
Check out their website.
I was there a couple of months ago.

thats because Oracle is a *relatively* common english word, and can legitimately be used for any non-computer-industry purpose. In this case, its being used for fashion.

Agree, "thepaypal.com" is worthless. If Ebay is diligent about protecting their IP (I hear they are), you will hear from their legal eagles shortly.

I'll give you $10 if you put the domain up for auction on Ebay.

That would be so classic!

maybe not a TM issue. just try to generate revenue for them and they might get off your back.

Just like GoogleCash.com

I don't know why Google is not stopping them.

Ya, I was wondering how googlecash.com was getting away with the name. Perhaps google might buy the site for more profit :)
