they took back my net.biz

well i thought it was a freak of nature i was able to register it, but they took it back becaue i guess their keeping some subdomains like net, org etc for the future

Hmm.. as I know, net.biz should be a reserved name that no one would be able to applied or registered it.

yes you are right. however i was able to register it and it appeared in my domain list for about a day but it must have got hung up so technically i never "had it", but it was fun while it lasted

Who did you register this one with? It's a reserved name and would not have been made available at the registry. If a registrar let you add this to your domain portfolio - it would have been local at the register and not ever sent to the registry.

actually a lot of registries have it listed as available, including the nic.biz itself!

Only in the whois database, which is not representative of your ability to register a name, only whether a name is already registered with someone else. There is no requirement for reserved names to be listed in the whois database - though .us did that.

The registry reponse when you ask if you can register the name net.biz is [2306:Parameter value policy error (DomainNameType:net.info, label reserved by ICANN)]

Not by me, but MA.IL - that was registered the same way (Registrar mistake) for about 2 days 2 years ago.
