Three-Word Domain Sells for $260,000 to Top New DN Journal Chart

The new weekly domain sales report is out at DNJournal.com. This week one of the largest three-word domain sales we’ve ever seen took the #1 spot on our Top 20 chart after changing hands for $260,000. A second six-figure blockbuster from the geodomain category passed the $150,000 mark. Two more geodomains earned spots in the top ten. .Com had a dominating week, taking 17 of the20 chart positions. The other three openings went to a pair of .orgs and a $21,500 .info. You can get all of the details here:

Well sometimes when I see such sales i think about 3 things

1. Buyer and seller actually are same person ( company , sister company and ect ) and they are just reducing their income to avoid paying taxes

2. Clearing the dirty money

3. Too rich to be care about 260K - as for me it's obviously waste of money

why is that? it's making ~$20 per day according to Rick Latona newsletter, so it's about 8.5 years revenue. I think this is a very good multiple.

City .com values cannot be calculated solely on the daily revenue. Latona owned the domain for less than 4 months. At least it was bought by a Florida-based company.

Technically, it's Daytona Beach (which is fully developed), so Daytona while obviously nice is a bit less familiar. Kind of like Indy for Indianapolis, or Lauderdale for Fort Lauderdale.

Acro, I have many similar city domains, some are bigger, more popular, others smaller. I'd be happy to sell most at this price. Check the prices cities sold for at the latest geo expo. Without the traffic/revenue the price would be much smaller

it was offered in ricks newsletter 4 times during a months time before it sold.. what makes you think it's worth $180k :lol:

I live in Florida, remember Perhaps Mr. Latona paid less than half of the sales figure to acquire it.

Rick actually had some good deals in his newsletter lately. I'm surprised some of them haven't sold faster.
Probably because of summer and everyone is on vacation

I think the reason is simple: too many selling venues have popped up. So the key to having high sales is reaching outside the known domainer universe
