Ive had my eye on a few domains .. all expired mid sept, and in redemption.

When do they actually 'expire' ?

Depends on the registrar... some registrars have 30 d redemption period, some have 40 or 45 d redemption period.
After which the names put into the 7 d period pending delete.
Of course there are some 'naughty' registrars too...

Anyway some people here are experts in this thing. Hopefully they will answer this.

cheers

All registrars should be following the same timeline, but as aguss mentioned, some don't. To get an estimated drop date for these domains you can use my tool found here.
