Pinkard Alan "Pinky" Brand is the Director of Global Domain Sales for dotMobi (mTLD Top Level Domain Ltd). dotMobi's investors include Ericsson, Google, GSM Association, Hutchison, Microsoft, Nokia, Orascom Telecom, Samsung Electronics, Syniverse, T-Mobile, Telefónica Móviles, TIM, VISA & Vodafone.
Although mobile devices and the networks that support them are improving, it seems like the mobile Web is almost a secret these days because sites can be hard to locate and have little content when you find them. Yet, with more than four mobile phones purchased for every personal computer that's bought, there's a world of people whose main access point to the Internet is a mobile device. The .mobi domain is the answer. .mobi is the first - and only - top-level domain designed to let consumers know "This site will work on my phone."
Mr. Brand has been involved in the domain name industry since 1996. He co-founded two multinational domain name registrar and portfolio management companies that count the world's most recognized trademark holders as clients---generating total revenues in the tens of millions of dollars.
The first, in 1996, was Internet Domain Names, Inc. d/b/a idNames. That company was among the first in the world to develop commercial worldwide domain name registry search software and a corresponding database of registration requirements for over 200 country-code top-level domains (ccTLDs), as well as introducing the concept of online intellectual property protection and management of domain name portfolios.
Pinky then went to work for Network Solutions managing their ccTLD name registration and corporate domain records management business unit from 1998 to 2000.
In mid-2002 he co-founded Arcemus LLC, a boutique corporate domain name management registrar that specialized in ccTLDs. Iron Mountain (NYSE: IRM) acquired his company in 2004. He served as Vice President of Marketing for their Domain Name Management Services for two years before assisting dotMobi with their sunrise, land rush and general launch periods.
Pinky is a proud founding member and past President of the (80+ member) Houston, Texas chapter of the Young Entrepreneurs' Organization, (now known as Entrepreneurs' Organization). He currently resides in Dublin, Ireland.
