I think the only person that has "inside information" is the complainant. This is public information, as long as it's accurate there is nothing immoral or illegal about posting it. On the other hand, if the complainant "Strenuously objected" I'd begin to worry....

I applaud you. I don't agree with you, but I applaud your intentions and the manner in which you made your point. You didn't throw a fit --- rather, you asked very politely for the sake of those wishing to keep their identity quiet, that these lists not be posted. I also applaud you for sticking to your guns in spite of an overwhelming opposition.

It is interesting that the "Americans" on this board forget that it is the lone dissenting opinion that made our country great -- not the squelching of the minority opinion, as strongvix has inferred.

However, IMHO, it appears that the best resolution to this issue may be for you to politely request that your snaps not be identified, and I would bet that beatz (as well as others) would honor that request in the spirit that it is made. In addition, any others who have reason to wish their information remain private may make similar requests on their own behalf.

I really don't see any harm in posting who caught domains after the drop. Two facts:
(1) You can get a list of the top expiring names easily. There are usually at most ten good names per drop.
(2) It takes 2 minutes for anyone to compile the top ten catches.

Actually, I can tell you pretty much every name that everyone on this forum owns, and who owned it before them, and if it was stolen.

Enough said.

Reread what I said about being democratic. . . if the majority vote is to keep the lists then the minority loses. That's how it is. The minority is welcome to continue to whine all they want in our free society, but they're going to have to live with the groups decision or work to change it.

BTW, all data being posted is availible. members go through some hard work makeing these lists (i think) and I highly appreciate them.

Its very good to learn the stats of the different drop services and its neat (IMHO) to find out that some of the forum members got some top drops.

As for one members comment about raising the prices of getting names, he obviously doesn't know what is being discussed.

Most people posting here are not in agreeince (lol) with your oppinion, yak, it looks like an uphill battle for you, and you wont be able to dictate what other people do.

Although his reasoning may be flawed, his arguments were not half-cocked like everyone else's on the board. He never said that it was illegal or should be against the board rules, he simply said it "wasn't nice". It's a shame how everyone is using words like "censorship" and "free speech". If I read _yakov_ right, I think his point was more of an appeal to people's sense of morality than an attempt to censor the board.

I just thought he deserved commendation for sticking up for what he thought was right, in spite of everyone's mud slinging. I would hope that if he takes my advice and requests his own name to be removed from people's drop win lists, that everyone would respect his wishes.

I re-read your post, and you are correct. :embarrass I am sorry if I mislabeled you. I just saw an extreme sense of overbearance by everyone on this board, and I thought that yakov deserved a little credit for his attempt to seek a resolution to what he perceives as an injustice. It is clear that he is not going to win this argument (as well it should be), but I would like to think that if he (or anyone else) were to ask a favor to the board on his own behalf (which is apparently not the case in this instance), that it would be honored in the spirit in which it were asked. Why he is asking to keep other peoples' names secret is beyond my comprehension.

Also, don't assume that I agree with him in his logic, or am even siding with him on this issue. I actually could care less if the people's names are listed. I am, however, interested in the snap source and names which are snapped. Since I am relatively new, I can't tell everyone apart anyway, so it makes little difference to me. :laugh:

This arguement will go on and on......just let it go. Beatz can post these names all he wants and no one can stop him. Its what freedom is.....live with it. Now if he was posting these names before they drop, well thats a different story. Bottom line is, that anyone can view whois info on any domain name...there is no restrictions....and yes beatz and stuff are making it easier to view these, but they are not really keep private. The only difference I see is if one of these people contacts beatz and stuff and asks not to be listed, then that would be grounds to stop listing them. Otherwise......the list goes on.

Boy I wouldn't mind seeing my name up there one day..

It appears you may be correct. I will think twice next time coming to someone defense. I was just trying to bring a little peace and harmony to the board.

I guess this is a lesson to us all. If you refrain from obscenities and make your point in a polite way, regardless of the absurdity of your point, you may have some sympathizers. However, when you resort to lamblasting, you alienate any remaining people who may have come to your defense.
