I have one domain with them which expired (went into HOLD) on the 18th & was planning on renewing it shortly, but got this strange email from them today..

"
Dear Partner

Partner account xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Despite a number of attempts to inform you of expiring domain name(s)
held in your partner account, we now inform you that the following domains have expired and have now been DELETED. This action cannot be reversed.

What do they mean "DELETED" ? The name should still be on hold right? When I check the whois, currently it is still set at "ACTIVE" ..

However, when I check Total Registrations whois I get..

"Whois details for xxxxxxxx.com

Error: Connect to whois server failed."

I think that tomorrow registry whois (which is not "real time" for .com) will show REDEMPTION PERIOD.

quadtree.

RGP? But the name has only been on HOLD for like a week!

I think that a registrar can delete a domain immediately after expiration if they want and that it's not a rule to hold on names for 30-40 days when they expire.

Dang.... looks like I'm going to pay up now since I didn't know about this :-(

I have been thinking of developing on this domain & I gather it would be picked up by a drop catcher when it drops so if I want to keep it I'll have to pay...

I have the .com & the .net, .org, .ws & .cn are also taken.

Still shows as "active" in the whois but doesn't seem to contain my info.

I think this mean that the domain has not yet been deleted from the registry but has been removed from your account.

So, do you know if I will have to pay RGP fee if I want it back?
