A large computer motherboard company MSI has come out with a multi-use product called the MegaStick. It has only 512 megabytes of information. I don't know if they are the ones that own the already taken megaStick.com

Soon I expect there will be a similar product with twice as much capacity (1 gigabyte of information) so I registered gigaStick.com

Will there be any trademark issues? Should I get the trademark first? How much is the name worth?

Thanks for any input--especially and estimate of what I could sell gigaStick.com for.

I'm a newbie and don't know how to make my titles bold...sorry.

the way i understand it, if you registered a domain before the product was announced/released/trademarked then you are entitled to keep the domain.

Might still be a problem since you registered it in bad faith anticipating the product.

Real problem, they will snitch it from you easy if they want.
No way around, unless you have a trademark and a site developed around your trademark that does not reflect at all the gigastick product.

For example you can sell ice cream GigaSticks...
You have a trademark for it?
Your site shows the GigaStick advertising for Ice cream? You're cool...
They will probably buy the domain for big bucks from you if they really want it, or go for an easy alternative...
gs.com could be an easier sale for them...
