They always do. Most bids are in the last hour, minimizing chances attention will be called to them.

Don't they always? Makes me wonder why they make them go on for days. Why not just say "it will start at this time and will only go for 4-6 hours". IMO there will be extremely few bids lost.

they definitely should make them shorter
and they should end in the morning PST (when both americans and europeans can bid)

And also Aussies and Asians. Problem is most important buyers are from the USA and they wake up about noon...

12 noon? Way too early. We're usually not up and out of the bed until 3 p.m. due to nightly partying, getting drunk and gorging ourselves on Denny's and Jack in the Box.

Time zone is always a problem with any international event.

The only solution would be if you want to bid then change your schedule accordingly.

I do not understand why Moniker put the reserve price as the first bid...it makes it so no one will bid until the last 15 minutes...additionally, if the reserve is not met, there is no chance to negotiate or even find out who has an interest in the name....maybe at a slightly lower price.

It really makes no sense in my opinion.

I always wait for the last hour even if it is at snap or name jet. I think they should have the online auction end the day before the live when it is fresh in everyones mind. They could even have a break in the room for the last hour of the bidding. I think after the show most people have moved on and left it all behind them and may have even forgotten about the online auction all together.

I actually do not understand opposite - why they do NOT tell the reserve at live auction and do some "fake" bids instead...

Not talking about live auction here...but I can agree that they should give the reserve range...

am not even talking about not revealing a reserve range at silent auction...which I think is fine as well. I am talking about having the opening bid be the reserve - which I think is a bad idea.

Agree with Onward. They should set every domain to start at $1 and see how high up it goes in bidding - the reserve is there anyway so the sellers are risking nothing. This would also be a great predictor of general premium domain pricing, because everybody would see how much the buyer consensus is willing to pay and therefore try to negotiate with them.

Now I regret setting my reserve higher for some of the domains that I doubt will get any bids with this system.

Oh OK, but why ? If someone is willing to sell cheaper he could give lower reserve from the start...

are those all yours ??

Best of Luck to you...

Oh and ItalianDragon -- I think ALL the Moniker / Traffic LIVE Auctions
run an after-event for online auctions for 3-5 days afterwards...
(at least in my recollection - it's been that way) - - - just so you
know for future reference...
