domain: GUnitSoldier.com (G Unit Soldier)

A variation on this domain has been registered since i purchased it and is now being used as the official site for the rap group G-Unit. the other domain being www.g-unitsoldier.com.

G-unit as i said are a rap group of which superstar 50 cent is a member. their debut album beg for mercy was released on 14th Nov '03.

like i said the domain is now getting 900+ unique hits daily and has shown steady growth all month.

this may be confirmed by checking the stats @
http://www.gunitsoldier.com/webalizer/web/

since saturday morning i have been running adsense, art.com, drjays.com, amazon.com affiliate links but only on specific pages. stats for up until yesterday show art.com(on posters page) has had 333 click-thrus , drjays.com (on wear page) 167 clickthrus, amazon (on albums page) 616 click-thrus(8 albums bought, 3 dvds bought). the adsense i cannot track as they are mixed with other results. remember these click thrus all occurred on a different page from where the users entered (i.e. not the home page) so they are not just clicking away when they hit the site.

based on current info what value would you give this domain?

... a possible trademark-law suit in the future? :-D

But seriously if you had it first and they regged another one, maybe you actually lucked out and won't get sued. After all rappers and lawyers are not necessarily compatible :))

Hope for the best and good luck!

Did you just randomly register gunitsoldier.com or did you already know about the group?

Since you admit you reg'd the name with prior knowledge, if the group files a WIPO against you your admission may be used as evidence against you and you will likely lose the name.

That is a very strange coincidence they would decide to add the word Soldier to their name after you reg'd it???? Extremely odd.

They must have stumbled across your domian registration somehow and copied YOU instead of you copying them. LOL.

Your domain is much better than their hyphenated one.

So if your use of the name really predates theirs it would seem you have rights to the name and can demand they cease and desist using it, and/or you may legally offer it for sale to them without worry of a Wipo case against you.

You will get a lot more money that way than merely trying to sell the name here.

The group is called G-Unit and not G-Unit Soldier, so his case stands. But I wouldnt WIPO them or try to blackmail them for money just so that I could make a buck out of it. 50 Cent is a great rapper..

If the group's name really does not include the 'soldier' word then why all the traffic to the domain and what is the purpose of this thread anyway?

i own www.gunitsoldier.com this is where the traffic is coming from.

If the groups name does not include the word 'soldier' why are they using it as a website address and why would site visitors heavily typein the soldiers name if the group is known by the shorter name without the word soldier
