Is this a good idea? Yahoo wants 34.00 to renew domains, I can transfer to Godaddy and get a year's registration for under $8.00??

If yahoo wants $34 for a domain renewal, yes i'd do that.

no brainer.

i need to do this as well for a bunch of names. yahoo is such a PITA also

My suggestion, never yes Yahoo to start with, even if they offer domains for free, and if you did, get them out of there as soon as possible. Personal experience.

Transfer out! $34 pricing is crazy!

Best to do it asap, because prices are going up most everywhere soon due to a rate increase at many TLD registries, in particular .com, .net, org.

I did the same when I got the email from Yahoo... Absolutely insane price increase.

Moved them effortlessly to another registrar WELL BEFORE the due date so there would be no confusion.

Word of warning -- after you move them from Yahoo, be sure to CANCEL your accounts for those domains on Yahoo. There's been several posts here and on other forums of Yahoo still charging for domain renewal after the domain has been moved.
The code you need to move the domain is already on the domain listings in your Yahoo domain account so you can move it immediately.

Good luck and hope this helps :)
