Hello,

Sometimes I go on to 1and1.com and type in a domain, and the domain will come up as unavailable, but there is a checkbox underneath laballed "I own ths domain".

It then asks if you are able to authorise this domain! If I click yes does it mean that I could get this really good name off them?

It seems a little unsafe!

No, they are asking if they should initiate a transfer of the domain. The owner will be contacted and asked if they intended to transfer the domain...
