Hi- there is a .tv domain that just expired the other day that I want. From my understanding .tv domains dont "drop" to the general pool to be snapped via snapnames, pool.com, namewinner etc but rather go back to verisign.

I have heard that verisign in an instance like this negotiates a price per year to a potential buyer and that nothing is cast in stone. What could I expect to pay per year for a 5 digit domain (non-premium?) with them?

Also... if I initially made a deal with them for a year or two could I still transfer the domain to another .tv registrar in a few months so I could pay a lower price per year after that or am I stuck leaving it with verisign at that yearly price?

I know up until recently verisign would not allow transfers to other registrars but that now they do although I am wondering if by me obtaining the domain in this manner changes the structure of the arrangement.

Any thoughts/advice on this would be greatly appreciated. This domain is perfect for me and I want it and would not mind paying a little extra to have it but I dont want to pay $500 a year or something crazy, year in, year out- if it was a one time payment I could swing it but I dont want to be held hostage at exorbenant prices forever. I know if they consider it a "premium" domain (3 or 4 characters) they can charge huge amounts but this one is 5 characters so would it still just be the normal $50 or whatever?

Anyone have any experience with verisign in an instance like this?

Thanks-
