I've noticed some people mentioning how many unique hits they get a day from a linked or listed name that they redirect for traffic on another site.

My question is how do you know this? What are you using to determine hits and uniques for a domain that is undeveloped or is redirected to another site?

most hosting companies provide a stats package such as webalizer that tracks the number of visits (ie uniques), impressions, referrers etc
