United Overseas Bank did not bid for this name. they don't know how and what domain name is and how it can help their business.
UOB (united overseas bank) is one of the three banks in singapore. It's very active in Asian countries especially in South East Asia. it's Singapore rivals
DBS bank and OCBC bank all use DBS.COM and OCBC.com but UOB Bank uses
UOBgroup.com. While it Malaysian subs uses UOB.com.my
Very confusing. seem like the bank does not realize that if some sensitive banking info sent to email address ending with UOB.COM instead of UOBGroup.com or UOB..com.my, they are doomed. worst case scenerio, scammer can create fake UOB.COM website to steal their customers info.
how could they not realize this ?
this bank better offer to buy UOB.com for their sake and image.
if i have money, i will bid for it as well.
even 1 mil is a change for a bank if they really want uob.com.
but this bank is know for their stinginess. i know bcoz i worked for them until last month. they gave me 40 dollar pay raise for good performance.
my 2 cents.
Latest twist on dn UOB.com. it seems like the singaporean bank (United Overseas Bank) did know the value of doman name and it tried to get this dn name through WIPO. Of course, they failed. If i own UOB.com, I'd be pissed off that I got sued and demand 5mil from the bank if they really want it bad. after all, they are the BANK.
