Hey folks! 😎

Quick update on SLD Checker!

Bulk search is back online, so you can go ahead and use it again.

Behind the scenes I have been doing a lot of work to make the tool faster and more stable. Slow queries are fixed, the database is cleaned up and the system is running smoothly. Still a few things I am working through but overall it is in a much better shape than yesterday.

More updates coming soon! ✌️

Hello everyone👋,

Here is today's progress update on SLD Checker.

Previously the tool was slow at checking whether domains are available or taken. It was processing around 19 domains per second which is not enough for a tool handling millions of domains. After today's work it is now capable of checking around 1,141 domains per second, which adds up to nearly 100 million domain checks per day. That is roughly a 60x improvement in speed.

What this means for you as a user is that the availability status of domains will be fresher and more up to date than before. The tool is also more stable and less likely to run into issues during heavy usage.

A few more things are being tested before this is fully live but the hard part is done. Will keep you updated!

Thank you for your patience and support 🙏.

Hello everyone! 👋

Here is today's progress update on SLD Checker.

Search results have just got a lot better! 🔍

Previously when you searched for a keyword like domainsummit you would only see domains where the keyword appeared at the start, for example domainsummitasia.com or domainsummitworld.com.

Now the search is much wider. You will also see domains where the keyword appears in the middle or at the end too, for example londondomainsummit.com or itdomainsummit.com.

So you are no longer missing out on relevant domains just because the keyword does not start at the beginning. 🚀

Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Hey folks! 🛠️

Quick update from behind the scenes on SLD Checker.

Today was a maintenance day. Here is what got done:

Gone through all the core services to make sure everything is running properly. Cleared out old background tasks and queue items that were no longer needed and just taking up space. Gave the system a general health check to make sure nothing is silently misbehaving.

None of this is visible to you directly but it all adds up to a smoother and more reliable experience over time. Think of it like a regular service check for a car, nothing flashy but necessary to keep things running well. 🚗

Everything is stable and running normally. As always feel free to drop any feedback or issues you notice below!

Good news everyone! 🎉

I have started reworking the TLD Discovery feature in SLD Checker.

For those wondering what TLD Discovery is, it is the feature that automatically finds and shows results across a wide range of domain extensions. Currently when you search for a domain, results are limited to certain extensions. With TLD Discovery working properly, you will get a much fuller picture across many more extensions all in one search.

For example, instead of only seeing domainsummit.com you would also see domainsummit.de, domainsummit.au and many more.

It is still in early stages but I am actively working on it and will share updates as things progress. Stay tuned! 🚀

Hi everyone! 🔍

Quick update on the TLD Discovery feature in SLD Checker.

I have been testing the TLD Discovery feature today to make sure it works as expected. As part of this testing, old .de domain data is being removed from the server.

This means .de domains will not appear in search results for now. They will be back once the TLD Discovery feature is fully tested and confirmed to be working properly.

Everything else should work normally in the meantime. Will keep you posted! 🚀

Great news everyone! 🎉

The TLD Discovery rework is now complete!

As a first step, the feature has been started with active .de domains. This means .de domain results will gradually start appearing in searches again as the system picks them up.

This is a big step forward and more domain extensions will follow as things progress. Will keep you updated along the way!

Feel free to give it a try and drop any feedback below. 🚀

Shall we run an experiment with .rs domains as well? The .rs registry doesn't share their zone files - though promissed that can cross-check our results with the actual zone file. .. the highest accuracy they've seen once was 85% .. can we beat this?

Hey @Helmuts , yes I think beating 85% is realistic and here is my honest take!

There are actually two things to measure here. The first is whether the domains we find are actually real. For this I am fairly confident we can beat 85% because we only mark a domain as active after verifying it through DNS properly. So if we say a .rs domain is active, it very likely is.

The second is whether we found every single .rs domain that exists. This is the harder part. Since .rs does not share their zone file, we can only find domains our system already knows to look for. We may miss things like local Serbian business names, personal names, or short random strings that we never tried searching for.

So to put it simply, we can likely beat 85% on accuracy of what we find. But finding every .rs domain out there is a different story without the zone file.

Definitely worth running the experiment though! 😊
